On Violent Rhetoric And The Left
Remember the aftermath of the shooting of Gabby Giffords? The congresswoman was shot by a weird bulgy-eyed nutcase, and the Left went right to work trying their hardest to link it to Sarah Palin’s website—on the grounds that in her map for the 2010 Congressional election, the good governor dared to put…wait for it…crosshairs on the Democrat districts she deemed “targets” for the taking!
Oh, such violent rhetoric—promoted by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and company! That shooter must have been motivated by such…such a climate of hate! And so, the Left braced themselves for a grand reversal of our electoral victory, in their rejuvenated push for PC speech censorship—
Of course, then the truth got out that 1) said shooter was a rambling dodo with a pagan shrine, whose hatred of Giffords was purely personal; and 2) the many commentators of the Left are…not exactly guiltless regarding “violent rhetoric”. SEE: Ed Shultz ranting about ripping out Dick Cheney’s heart, kicking it around, and stuffing it back in. Or Obama himself saying “If [Republicans] bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun!”
“Oh, come on, Eric, they weren’t being literal, and you know it!”
Yeah, sure I do. And Sarah Palin wasn’t talking about literal sniper-rifle crosshairs. What’s your point? Or are you saying she was, because Sarah Palin’s So Stupid, Don’t You Know? Uh-huh….
Yes, Lefties are hypocrites. In other news, water is wet. It’s still pathetic how, lately, the “violent rhetoric” of the Left has actually been…violent. BLM going around in marches chanting “What do we want?—DEAD COPS!!! When do we want ‘em?—NOW!!!” comes to mind. Aside from Fox and the Conservative media, that little chant’s been…pretty much glossed over.
And now, what do we have? Donald Trump’s the president-elect. And the reaction of the Left has been…interesting.
An actress named Lea DeLaria—apparently some matron from that women-in-prison show on Netflix—went on Instagram last week, posted a quote by the great composer Leonard Bernstein on how music is a good response to violence…and helpfully added some thoughts to her own. Specifically, thoughts on taking a baseball bat to every Republican and Independent she sees.
Hilarious. Of course, she later removed that post—nothing to see, here!
Meanwhile, we have the CEO of PacketSled (a cybersecurity firm, apparently) launching into profanity-laden Twitter tirades about how he plans to grab a sniper rifle and take out Donald Trump. Right.
He got fired for that, of course. I guess we can take some comfort in that.
Still, the point is, for all the self-righteousness of the Left, bemoaning every time a Conservative/Republican/whatever engages in “militant/vehement/violent/hostile” rhetoric…they’re sure pretty free with their own tongues. And their leaders and spokespeople—those doing all the bemoaning—never seem to care that much about the language from their own side.
The climactic example, so far: a Democrat strategist named Symone Sanders, looking down at the “hate crimes” of Trump supporters, during a clash on CNN. Her opponent in this discussion, Trump supporter Carl Higbie, pointed out the decidedly unclean hands of the Left this past week. Sanders’s response? To shrug all that off as “protests”. It’s not the same thing.
Higbie pointed to the recent story of an angry mob of Lefties tearing a white alleged Trump supporter out of his car and beating him up—hardly the sort of thing any reasonable human being euphemizes as a “protest”. Cue Sanders: “Oh my goodness, poor white people! Please!”
Uh-huh. Sometimes I wonder if Lefties care about how they look and sound, anymore. But I digress.
She went on, “We can’t call for people to be peaceful when the rhetoric that has been used is not peaceful, when people don’t feel peaceful in their home.”
So…the violent actions of the Left…are somehow justified by the “violent rhetoric” of the Right. I see.
All this is especially sad when you recall how often the Left plays the “hypocrisy” card against the right. “HEY, you proclaim family values—but you’re divorced!” “YEAH, you support the War on Terror—but you’ve never served!” “OH, you’re for tough drug policies—but you were addicted once, yourself!” That sort of nonsense.
And yet, here they actually are hypocrites. Hypocrites talking about assassination and aggravated assaults on Conservatives. And it’s no big deal…
To them. But like I said, they look like idiots. Idiots with violence on their minds.
