‘Wiped Out’: Air Force losing pilots and planes to cuts, scrounging for spare parts

Obama’s starving of the military is similar to what Carter did…

Carter’s neglect of the military led to the debacle of Operation Eagle Claw

…which was intended to rescue the Iran hostages in 1980…     Dave

It was just a few years ago, in March 2011, when a pair of U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers – during a harsh winter storm – took off from their base in South Dakota to fly across the world to launch the air campaign in Libya, only 16 hours after given the order. Today, many in the Air Force are questioning whether a similar mission could still be accomplished, after years of budget cuts that have taken an undeniable toll. The U.S. Air Force is now short 4,000 airmen to maintain its fleet, short 700 pilots to fly them and short vital spare parts necessary to keep their jets in the air. The shortage is so dire that some have even been forced to scrounge for parts in a remote desert scrapheap known as “The Boneyard.”

“It’s not only the personnel that are tired, it’s the aircraft that are tired as well,” Master Sgt. Bruce Pfrommer, who has over two decades of experience in the Air Force working on B-1 bombers, told Fox News.

Fox News visited two U.S. Air Force bases – including South Dakota’s Ellsworth Air Force Base located 35 miles from Mount Rushmore, where Pfrommer is stationed – to see the resource problems first-hand, following an investigation into the state of U.S. Marine Corps aviation last month. Many of the Airmen reported feeing “burnt out” and “exhausted” due to the current pace of operations, and limited resources to support them. During the visit to Ellsworth earlier this week, Fox News was told only about half of the 28th Bomb Wing’s fleet of bombers can fly.

“We have only 20 aircraft assigned on station currently. Out of those 20 only nine are flyable,” Pfrommer said. “The [B-1] I worked on 20 years ago had 1,000 flight hours on it.  Now we’re looking at some of the airplanes out here that are pushing over 10,000 flight hours,”…

“In 10 years, we cut our flying program in half,” said Capt. Elizabeth Jarding, a B-1 pilot at Ellsworth who returned home in January following a six-month deployment to the Middle East for the anti-ISIS campaign…

U.S. leads 19 strikes against Islamic State in Iraq, Syria

Is this supposed to be good news???

Looks to me like Obama is just trying to “look busy”…

We have the ability to launch thousands of strikes per day…

…and yet Obama does not do this…

This raises a question…

What is the final outcome that Obama’s operations are trying to achieve???

We still have no idea…

“Defeating ISIL” tells us nothing about what comes after…

If we defeated ISIS, to whom would ISIS’s territory go?

Iran-controlled Iraq? Iran-Controlled Syria? The Kurds?

Obama’s support of the Kurds has been minimal…

…so we can assume that Iran and its satellites would be the big gainers…

If that happened, it would only destabilize the region further…

…as Sunni nations such as Saudi Arabia hit the panic button…

No wonder Obama isn’t telling us anything…   Dave

Reuters                 Thursday, May 12, 2016

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States and its allies conducted 19 strikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria on Wednesday, the coalition leading the operations said in a statement Thursday. The Combined Joint Task Force said 13 of the strikes hit targets near 10 Iraqi cities, including near Mosul where two strikes destroyed nine rails used to launch rockets, as well as a vehicle and assembly area used by Islamic State militants. The U.S.-led coalition, working with Iraqi forces, are trying to retake the key city.

Two other strikes hit hear Al Baghdadi, striking two units of militant fighters, among other targets, the task force said.

In Syria, six strikes near three cities hit three Islamic State tactical units, two vehicles, 12 fighting positions used by the militant group and other targets, according to the statement…

Antsy ISIS militant orders his own killing so he can get to heaven on time

This jihadist’s thinking is the natural product of Islamic ideology…

Jihadists are motivated by verses of unholy Islamic scripture such as these…

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 25:…Allah’s Apostle was asked, “What is the best deed?”  He replied, “To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad).”  The questioner then asked, “What is the next (in goodness)?”  He replied, “To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah’s Cause.”

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 53: …The Prophet said, “Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world…, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah’s Cause).”

One of the simplest ways to defeat the jihadists is to hold them to their own belief systems…

If we WIPED THEM OUT wherever we found them, we would be doing them a big favor…

It is time to give jihadists the luckiest – and final – day of their lives…    Dave

An Islamic State fighter captured in Iraq last week reportedly begged Kurdish troops to kill him right away because he didn’t want to be late for a 4 p.m. religious ceremony in heaven.

Kurdish Peshmerga forces captured the militant after he and 49 others were sent out by ISIS for a suicide bombing attack in the Christian town of Tel Askuf coinciding with an Islamic holy day, according to The Clarion Project.

“They were supposed to commit suicide using their suicide belts because today is the anniversary of the Isra and Mi’iraj celebration,” Peshmerga Lt. Col. Salim ak-Surji reportedly told the Turkish News Agency Rudaw.

“He told me ‘all of us must be in heaven by 4 p.m., kill me,” the officer said. The day marks Prophet Muhammad’s ascension to heaven to receive instruction form Allah…

Iran declines to take part in hajj over dispute with Saudis

It was just a few years ago…

…that Saudi-paid “experts” on Islam

…were telling us that all of the turmoil in the Middle East…

…was caused by U.S. foreign policy

What horse hockey…

Sunnis and Shiites have been at war with each other…

…since the dawn of Islam…

Today it is so bad that Iran won’t even allow its citizens to travel to Saudi Arabia…

…for the Hajj, one of the 5 pillars of the Islamic faith…

The reason? Obama’s weakness has signaled an opportunity…

…to advance the global caliphate…

The only problem is that the Saudis want a Sunni global caliphate…

…while the Iranians want a Shiite global caliphate…

As American foreign policy gets less assertive…

…the sectarian war between Sunnis and Shiites is guaranteed to ramp up…   Dave

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran will not send pilgrims to Saudi Arabia this year for the annual hajj, an Iranian official said Thursday, the latest sign of tensions between the two Mideast powers after a disaster during the pilgrimage last year killed at least 2,426 people.

Saudi Arabia blamed Iranian officials for the decision and suggested it was politically motivated to publicly pressure the kingdom.

Iran says Saudi “incompetence” caused the crush and stampede in the area of Mina on Sept. 24 during the hajj, which all able-bodied Muslims are required to perform once in their life. Iran has said the disaster killed 464 of its pilgrims.

Ali Jannati, Iran’s minister of culture and Islamic guidance, said negotiations that took place over several months between Iran and Saudi Arabia were aimed at trying to “resolve the issue” of security during the hajj, but failed to make any headway.

“We did whatever we could but it was the Saudis who sabotaged” it, Jannati said in comments carried by the state-run IRNA news agency. “Now the time is lost.”…

Iran’s ‘moderates’ and the Holocaust

Editorial Board              The Washington Post                May 9, 2016

AT THE heart of the Obama administration’s diplomatic engagement with Iran is the notion that the regime is divided among hard-liners who foment its terrorism and regional aggression and more moderate forces who are open to cooperation with the West. The embodiment of the latter is said to be Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, an English-speaking favorite of many Western journalists and, even more so, Secretary of State John F. Kerry.

However, if there really is a gulf between Mr. Zarif and the supposed hard-liners, he often does a good job of disguising it. During the 18-month imprisonment of The Post’s Jason Rezaian, for example, Mr. Zarif offered public support for the absurd and mendacious claim that Mr. Rezaian was guilty of espionage. The foreign minister suggested Mr. Rezaian had been taken “advantage” of by an “overzealous low-level operative” of the U.S. government.

More recently, Mr. Zarif was asked to explain why Iran is sponsoring a cartoon festival beginning this Saturday on the theme of the Holocaust. It’s the second time the regime has staged such a event; the first, a poisonous orgy of anti-Semitism, was held in 2006 under President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — one of the “hard-liners,” according to Obama administration theory.

Mr. Zarif’s response to interviewer Robin Wright of the New Yorker was a form of denialism: He claimed the Rouhani administration had nothing to do with the exhibition. The sponsor is a nongovernmental organization “that is not controlled by the Iranian government,” he said. Moreover, he said, the organization had not needed government permission to stage the event. It was, he said, comparable to the activity in the United States of the Ku Klux Klan. “Is the government of the United States responsible for the fact the there are racially hateful organizations in the United States?” he demanded.

Naturally, it didn’t take long for this dissembling to be challenged. What was interesting is that some of the pushback came from Mr. Zarif’s own government. A spokesman for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance confirmed that the ministry supports the exhibition, along with other programs that “enlighten people about the Holocaust.” A festival official also reported that it was cooperating with the ministry…

U.S. special forces wage secretive ‘small wars’ against terrorists

What a mess…

Obama has policies, but not a plan for victory

What do his “small wars” add up to???

Like his rules of engagement, Obama’s policies aim at minimizing losses…

…instead of achieving victory…

Still no word on what “victory” would even look like…

Of course Obama will hand a large number of wars to his successor…

When the best one can hope for is a stalemate…

…a proliferation of wars is the natural result…

Being engaged in a large number of stalemates like this…

…will leave America in a state of morale-sapping over-extension and slow attrition…

Given how widespread the global jihad is…

…Obama’s policies amount to a plan to fail in slow-motion…   Dave

Barbara Starr, Pentagon Correspondent             CNN          Thu May 12, 2016

Washington – President Barack Obama is increasingly calling upon Special Operations forces to carry out so-called “small wars” across the Middle East and Africa to challenge both ISIS and al Qaeda in places where the U.S. maintains a footprint beyond Syria and Iraq. In his first trip overseas since taking command of U.S. Special Operations a month ago, Gen. Raymond Thomas told a Middle Eastern audience recently that “complex” fails to adequately describe the current security environment. That complexity is leading the Obama administration to expand the use of small teams of Special Operators in various terror hotspots.

Thomas previously served as head of the secretive Joint Special Operations Command — the unit that includes Navy SEALS, the Army’s Delta Force and other covert Special Operations units. “We are attempting to identify opportunities to expand [Special Operations’] global presence, forward access and relationships to leverage opportunities short of crisis,” Thomas said.

He did not offer additional details, but many military officials privately have noted that ISIS came to power and began controlling large swathes of territory, posing a major terror threat, faster than the U.S. could respond. They don’t want to see it happen again.

That explains why — although much of the U.S. response is clearly focused on Iraq and Syria — Special Ops forces are being asked to prevent both ISIS and al Qaeda from gaining a stronger foothold in places like Libya, Somalia and Yemen. The military characterizes many of the operations as “advising and assisting” local forces with intelligence and overhead surveillance to help identify targets. But in reality there are also many instances of the U.S. conducting direct attack operations on terror targets.

Among the places where “small war” activities are underway:

Somalia

West Africa

Yemen

Libya

U.S. Special Forces order airstrike on Somali militants

Barbara Starr, Pentagon Correspondent              CNN          Thu May 12, 2016

U.S. Special Operations called in an airstrike on Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia Thursday when a mission to help Ugandan forces the American troops were accompanying turned into an unexpected battle. The incident occurred west of Mogadishu, according to U.S. military officials familiar with reports from the scene. No U.S. troops were wounded in what quickly turned into a firefight between Ugandan forces and Al-Shabaab militants.

Initial reports from the field, details of which were shared with CNN, suggested the U.S. special forces were involved in the firefight. But military officials said later Thursday that further information made clear the U.S. troops weren’t involved in the firefight.

Ugandan troops, who are in the country as part of African forces backing the Somali government, had been called in to clear an illegal checkpoint being run by Al-Shabaab, the al Qaeda affiliate in Somalia. The Ugandans came under fire from an estimated 20 militants, the officials said. When the Ugandans were unable to completely suppress the Al-Shabaab fire, the U.S. “advise and assist” team, which was in a concealed position nearby, called in an airstrike on the checkpoint.

The U.S. forces stayed in concealed positions and didn’t fire their weapons. The Ugandans engaged the militants in a firefight. Five militants were believed killed by the U.S. airstrike, the officials said.

The U.S. maintains a force of about 50 troops in Somalia to advise and assist both Somali and other African forces operating in Somalia. They are not expected to be in combat but are prepared if they come under fire, one of the officials said. Helicopters, drones and manned aircraft are available for quick reaction airstrikes, the official noted…

Nuclear Terrorism is One Step Away

Raoul Lowery Contreras              American Thinker               May 9, 2016

Western Civilization’s worst fear is nuclear terrorism in the form of bombs, dirty and otherwise, detonated in populated European, Russian, American or Israeli cities by Jihadi terrorists. The idea that Middle Eastern Arab terrorists like those of Al Qaeda and/or ISIS or rebel Chechens stealing or buying black-market radioactive material — Uranium or Plutonium – with which to build bombs frightens the political leadership of the entire West, Russia and Israel. Books and movies about such scenarios fill our bookshelves and television programming and they are not pure fition.

The Reuters News Agency on April 18 reported that the nation of Georgia has “detained six Georgian and Armenian citizens who were trying to sell $200 million worth of uranium-238.” That information alone is not enough.

Since the second largest nuclear power, the Soviet Union, broke up in 1991, the West has been concerned about the Soviet nuclear arsenal and how it was secured. “The members of the group were planning to sell the nuclear material, uranium-238, for $200 million when they were detained,” Reuters reported.

New information has surfaced, it is that the three Armenians were employees of the “Metsamor” Nuclear Power Plant, the Soviet Era Armenian nuclear energy plant that is almost 50 years old.  We can only assume the material came from Metsamor. Was it stolen or was it given over to the three by the Armenian nuclear agency for a share of the $200 million the material was expected to bring on the black-market?…

DNC Chairwoman Schultz claims Clinton ‘not the target’ of FBI probe

Published May 13, 2016                   FoxNews.com

Even in the face of the FBI boss scoffing at Hillary Clinton’s description of the “investigation” into her email practices as a “security inquiry,” the head of the Democratic Party is now insisting the front-running Democratic presidential candidate isn’t even a focus of the probe. “Secretary Clinton isn’t even a target of this inquiry, investigation, whatever ‘I’ word you want to use,” Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz told Fox News on Friday.

Asked to back up her statement, Schultz said she’s “repeatedly been told that” – though she did not say who might have told her.

But the claim that Clinton is not the focus would be appear to be challenged by recent developments in the case. Senior aides to Hillary Clinton, including Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, have been interviewed by FBI agents in recent weeks. Bryan Pagliano, the Clinton aide who installed the personal server used while she was secretary of state, has received a grant of immunity.

The bureau even confirmed in court documents earlier this year that the former secretary of state’s “use of a private e-mail server” is the focus. And when asked by Fox News earlier this week about Clinton’s repeated description of the probe as a mere security inquiry, FBI Director James Comey said he’s not familiar with that term.

“We’re conducting an investigation. … That’s what we do,” Comey told Fox News.

Schultz was asked by Fox News whether she was hearing different information from the FBI that would lead her to claim Clinton is not the focus. “My understanding is that Secretary Clinton is not the target of this investigation. … I am only repeating what my understanding is,” she said…

Measles Outbreak in Memphis Began at Mosque

Michael Patrick Leahy              Breitbart News                10 May 2016

The first reported case of a person with measles in the recent Memphis outbreak, which now numbers seven confirmed cases, was at a local mosque on April 15, according to the Shelby County Health Department.

“The first public place where there was a public exposure potentially [to measles] was the Masjid Al-Noor Mosque on April 15,” Dr. Alisa Haushalter, Director of the Shelby County Health Department, tells Breitbart News. “The mosque is one location we know that individuals who were infectious were during their infectious period, but that’s not necessarily where the first case occurred. I don’t want you to draw conclusions without sufficient information,”…

Haushalter acknowledged, however, that the measles outbreak could have originated with an unvaccinated for measles adult or child brought to Tennessee under the federal refugee resettlement program, something she called “a possibility amongst many.”

There had been no reported cases of measles in Shelby County for the previous 24 months, according to a spokesperson for the Tennessee Department of Health. “There have been nine previous cases of measles in the entire state of Tennessee in the past 12 years,” WREG reported.

The Shelby County Health Department first notified the public of a measles outbreak on Friday morning, April 22, reporting two confirmed cases, an adult and a child. “We take the testing [of patients for measles] to the state lab then to CDC. We went public as soon as we received the confirmation,” spokesperson Elizabeth Hart tells Breitbart News. As of May 10, the number of reported cases of measles in Memphis has increased to seven.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the number of measles cases in the United States grew from 63 in 2010 to 667 in 2014. It fell to 189 in 2015. That year, “the United States experienced a large, multi-state measles outbreak linked to an amusement park in California. The outbreak likely started from a traveler who became infected overseas with measles, then visited the amusement park while infectious; however, no source was identified.”

Surprisingly, the majority of the more than 70,000 refugees resettled annually across the United States  through the federal refugee resettlement program are not required to have been vaccinated for measles prior to their arrival here. “Refugees being resettled in the United States, unlike immigrants seeking residency, have not been subject to immunization requirements,” according to a Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) released by the CDC in January 2015

London’s Islamic Mayor With Radical Ties Talks U.S. Elections

Without realizing it, Mayor Khan just did Trump a “HUGE” favor…

Americans are getting sick of Islam fast…

By the time we get to November, Hillary’s support for Muslims – and vice-versa…

…will be an albatross around her neck…    Dave

Nick Kangadis          Media Research Center               May 11, 2016

The brand spanking new Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, didn’t waste any time giving the world his two cents on the upcoming presidential election in the United States. Speaking to CNN’s Christine Amanpour on Wednesday, Khan, London’s first-ever Muslim mayor, didn’t hold back on his feelings toward presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.

A choice of somebody who is trying to divide not just your communities in America, but who is trying to divide America from the rest of the world. And I think that, you know, that’s not the America that I know and love. I’m hoping he’s not the guy that wins.

This comes after Trump said he would make an exception for Khan when it came to Trump’s “Muslim ban.” In response, Khan suggested that Trump’s rhetoric could cause an escalation in extremism in both the U.K. and the U.S. “Donald Trump’s ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe — it risks alienating mainstream Muslims around the world and plays into the hands of the extremists,” Khan said.

Who is Khan to have any say in our political process? No matter who anyone supports in the presidential race, the same type of process that elected him mayor in London is the same process that he is trying to influence in the U.S. Usually leaders around the world do not publicly take a position on who they want elected in the U.S. We may know who they would prefer, but they typically keep that information to themselves.

But Khan did not stop there — he proudly threw his support behind Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton

Portrait of Mohammad Back on eBay After Removal From Site

Dan Joseph             Media Research Center              May 6, 2016

An award-winning drawing of the prophet Mohammad is back up on eBay after being removed from the online auction site earlier this week.  According to the sketch’s artist, Bosch Fawstin, eBay removed the listing on a “technicality.”

“After an attempt to correct it and re-list, they erected a couple of new obstacles to doing so, effectively barring it from eBay,” claimed Fawstin in a message sent to Breitbart News.

While the specific reason behind the removal of the item from eBay’s site is unclear, it appears that eBay caved and allowed the bidding on the drawing to resume after an outcry on social media from Fawstin’s supporters.

Fawstin’s picture won the first annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest organized by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer for the American Freedom Defense Initiative. The sketch depicts a sword-welding Mohammad along with the caption, “You can’t draw me. That’s why I draw you.”

Artistic depictions of Mohammad are forbidden under Islamic law.

Prior to its removal from the site, the highest bid for the drawing was $10,000. Since the listing was reposted on the site early Friday morning, the high bid now stands at $5,700…

“Lies, Damned Lies, and the Religion of Peace”

Mateen Elass                      May 12, 2016

Can a true religion really give its practitioners the freedom to lie? Many in the West have heard that Islam gives Muslims such freedom, and so have grown even more suspicious of Muslim acquaintances whom they might otherwise have come to know, befriend, appreciate and trust. What has fueled this perception of Islam, and is it accurate?

Muslims, naturally, protest that such a conclusion is false, and that their Qur’an enjoins them to honesty in their words and deeds: “O ye who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are true” (9:119). That seems very straightforward. Particularly with other Muslims, believers are to act honestly unless the use of lies would likely create greater peace. (According to Bukhari 49.857, Umm Kulthum reported Muhammad to have said, “He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things is not a liar.”

Yet Islamic morality is not quite that simple.  The one great absolute to which all other moral commands bow is this: whatever behavior advances the cause of Islam is good or permissible; whatever weakens or demeans the cause of Islam is evil and forbidden.

So when it comes to truthfulness in word and deed, a Muslim is required to be honest and forthright in his dealings, unless the cause of Islam might somehow be negatively affected by the truth. Muslim jurists (both Sunni and Shi’ite) over the centuries have created five sometimes overlapping categories where the use of lies is permitted for the sake of Islam (as opposed to personal advantage – though sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference).

The first, and most well-known category is taqiyya, often translated “dissimulation.” A Muslim is permitted to mislead non-Muslims as to his identity when the truth would put his life and/or the cause of Islam in danger…

Tawriyah, a second category of permissible lies, involves the intentional creation of false impressions while technically telling the truth. By use of double entendres or misleading words, one causes the listener to conclude the opposite of the truth…

A third category of deception is known as kitman, and involves telling only part of the truth, and concealing the rest, so as to present a false picture. With regard to orthodox Islam, we see this regularly in the West when Muslims who know better declare, “Islam is a religion of peace.” What they mean is, “Islam is a religion of peace for those who have submitted to Allah, but it declares war on all those who refuse to submit to Allah.”…

Muruna is a fourth category of deception. Meaning literally “flexibility,” muruna allows Muslims to set aside some commands of Allah in order to achieve others that have a higher priority in Allah’s service. Hence, one may engage in some of  the “minor evils” of an infidel society so as to blend in with the enemy while plotting his demise…

Lastly is the category of taysir, which translates literally as “ease.” Supported by the Qur’an (“For Allah desires ease for you, not hardship,” 2:185; see also 2:286, 4:26-28, and 5:6), taysir is the provision of “special dispensation” when obedience to Islam would create too much hardship for the Muslim in a non-Muslim context…

A British parliamentary report says the European Union’s operation in the Mediterranean Sea is having no real impact on combatting migrant smuggling

I find it impossible to believe that…

…with all of the advanced satellite observation capabilities we have today…

…that we are unable to track these migrant boats down and either turn them back or sink them…

European governments are just not serious about stopping this flow of migrants…

At least not yet…     Dave

Associated Press               Friday, May 13, 2016

BRUSSELS — The Latest on the flow of migrants into Europe (all times local):

A British parliamentary report says the European Union’s operation in the Mediterranean Sea is having no real impact on combatting migrant smuggling. The report by the House of Lords EU Committee said Friday that Operation Sophia has only made a few low-level arrests, although it praised the naval mission for saving some 9,000 lives at sea. Committee chairman Christopher Tugendhat said that “a naval mission cannot disrupt the business model of people smuggling, and in this sense it is failing.”

He said smugglers operate from Libya and that “without support from a stable Libyan government, the operation is unable to gather the intelligence it needs or tackle the smugglers onshore.”

The EU announced on Friday that the operation launched a year ago is set to be extended for 12 months.

4:00 p.m. Austria and Italy say that plans to impose controls on the main crossing between their countries have been put on ice for now due to the small number of migrants using it. Austrian Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka and Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano announced the decision Friday after meeting at the Brenner border point separating their countries.

Austria began construction at the crossing last month in anticipation of a possible flood of migrants from Italy via the Mediterranean Sea. It expected an increase to the number of migrants arriving in Italy after the closure of the West Balkans route leading from Greece. But Sobotka says Italy was successful in reducing migrant entries over the past few weeks, making such controls unnecessary, for now.

Italy and the EU both strongly oppose controls at the Brenner crossing…

U.S. concern grows over Islamic State fighters training in Libya

Europe’s lack of seriousness about stopping illegal Muslim immigration from Libya…

…is setting it up for an ISIS invasion…   Dave

Paul Richter                   Los Angeles Times                December 12, 2014

Fighters for the Islamic State militant group have been training in remote areas of Libya, heightening the Obama administration’s concern about a country that U.S. officials have largely ignored since its 2011 revolution. Training camps with several hundred Islamic State fighters have been spotted in parts of eastern Libya, and some U.S. intelligence reports suggest a new presence for the militant group near Tripoli, in the country’s west, U.S. officials disclosed in recent days.

Although the officials say no immediate military response is planned, the appearance of the camps is giving new impetus to a debate about whether the United States eventually will need to expand its campaign against the militants beyond Iraq and Syria.

Islamic State “is exploiting vast, ungoverned spaces in Libya,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said this week during a Senate hearing aimed at coming up with a new legal authorization for U.S. military involvement in the Middle East.

In 2011, the Obama administration organized the NATO air campaign that led to the downfall of former Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi and the country’s dissolution into a many-sided civil war. President Obama, in an interview in August, said the failure of the U.S. and its allies to do more for Libya after Kadafi’s fall was his biggest foreign policy regret. Even so, U.S. officials have largely left efforts to broker peace in the country to European officials and have been deeply resistant to the idea of a renewed U.S. military role. But the growth of a terrorist threat in a chaotic country about the size of Texas stirs alarm in Washington. Such a threat was a chief danger cited by critics of the 2011 intervention, including former Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates.

The militants appear to have multiple training camps in eastern Libya, officials said. The groups in Libya apparently don’t include higher-ranking Islamic State fighters preparing terrorist operations, officials said…

Report: US Military Dog Tears Into Pitched Gunfight, Attacks ISIS Fighters

Islam teaches Muslims to see dogs as unclean…

Many Muslims fear and loathe them…

Time to send ISIS an army of Civilized Man’s Best Friend…      Dave

Russ Read            The Daily Caller            May 10, 2016

Islamic State fighters became intimately acquainted with one of the more unique weapons in the U.S. arsenal Sunday when a military working dog was sicked upon them during a firefight. Drawing on anonymous sources, the U.K.’s Daily Star reports the dog was turned on ISIS fighters after a vehicle carrying U.K. soldiers with the Special Air Service (SAS) was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The event is believed to have taken place near the area where a U.S. Navy SEAL was killed in combat May 3. After the IED, the SAS troops were ambushed by over 50 ISIS fighters mounted on two technicals (trucks mounted with heavy machine guns).

Just as the firefight was getting dire for the SAS troops, a U.S. serviceman attached to the unit let loose an unexpected, furry weapon. The serviceman released his military working dog, a fierce German shepherd, on a group of militants. The dog immediately lunged after at one of the men after dodging gun fire, shredding his face. Seeing the fate of their comrade, two other militants turned and fled…

ISIS is Now Burying its Own Fighters Alive

The Islamic State reportedly buried alive dozens of its own fighters accused of cowardice. Those who refuse to submit are “apostates.”

The Clarion Project                Thu, May 12, 2016

The Islamic State executed dozens of its own fighters for fleeing the battlefield, according to local media reports cited by Russia Today. Ahlul Bayt News Agency reported that ISIS buried alive some 35 of its own fighters outside the town of Qayyarah, near Mosul. The fighters had reportedly run away from a battle against Iraqi government forces near Kirkuk. IraqiNews.com also reported the number executed at 35.

The Islamic State is notorious for its ultraviolent treatment of those it regards as criminals and dissenters. It regards anyone who refuses to submit as guilty of apostasy and therefore deserving of death…

The smiling assassins: Teenage boys grin with delight as they prepare to murder five innocent men after ISIS militants asked for VOLUNTEERS to execute ‘apostates’

The Daily Mail                12 May 2016

Grinning with delight and clutching their weapons, these are the smiling teenage boys preparing to execute five innocent men after ISIS militants asked for volunteers to assassinate them for rejecting Islam.   The five captives, who had all been convicted of apostasy, were led into the middle of a crowd by members of the terror group in Nineveh, Iraq. They were all dressed in red overalls and were blindfolded before being forced to kneel on the ground.

Footage then shows one ISIS militant preach to the large crowd and declare that they had been sentenced to death. He then appears to ask for volunteers to step forward to execute the men.

And shockingly, five young men raise their hands to offer to carry out the executions with some of them appearing eager to be picked.  Men guarding the prisoners then hand shotguns over to the chosen crowd members and they all appear delighted as they stand behind the victims pointing their weapons at them. And as the baying crowd begins to shout and chant, after a short countdown, they then start to fire their weapons as the prisoners fall to the floor…

G for ‘Gun’, T for ‘Tank’: ISIS app to teach children Jihadi themes

PTI              The Times of India               May 12, 2016

WASHINGTON: ISIS has reportedly launched its first mobile app for children to teach them the Arabic alphabet and the vocabulary taught by it includes jihadist themes along with words like ‘tank’, ‘gun’ and ‘rocket’.

The Islamic State’s ‘Library of Zeal’ has released an application for teaching the Arabic alphabet to children on Android devices, the Long War Journal reported. The vocabulary taught within the application includes jihadist themes. The application was released through Islamic State Telegram channels and on other file sharing websites. The application has games for memorising and how to write the Arabic letters in addition to including a ‘nasheed’ — a cappella Islamic songs – designed to help teach the alphabet.

The lyrics in the nasheed are littered with jihadist terminology, while other games within the app also include militaristic vocabulary with more common, basic words, the report said. Words like ‘tank’, ‘gun’ and ‘ rocket ‘ are among the first few taught within the application…

Islamic State kills 17 Iraqi soldiers with suicide truck bombs near Ramadi

Reuters               Thursday, May 12, 2016

BAGHDAD – Islamic State insurgents killed at least 17 Iraqi soldiers with suicide truck bombs on Thursday in a major attack on government forces that recaptured the western city of Ramadi in December, military officials said. The jihadist group also killed two policemen and wounded eight others in two suicide bombings in Abu Ghraib outside Baghdad, a day after killing at least 80 people in bombings at an outdoor market and two checkpoints inside the capital.

The attacks near Ramadi dealt one of the heaviest blows to the army since it drove Islamic State out of the western city five months ago. An army colonel told Reuters that militants killed at least 17 soldiers with suicide truck bombs in Jarayshi, 10 km (6 miles) north of Ramadi. They also surrounded an army regiment, seized a bridge and cut a key supply route linking Ramadi to the Thirthar district further north, army sources said.

An officer said the attack appeared designed to delay an expected army offensive into a nearby region that would have completely severed militant supply routes to Falluja, the Islamic State-held city on the western approaches to Baghdad that Iraqi forces have ringed for more than six months. Another officer said reinforcements had arrived to the area to help clear the militants out of houses where they had taken up positions.

As Islamic State has been pushed out of key towns and cities it seized in 2014, it has resorted increasingly to guerrilla-style attacks in civilian areas under the nominal Iraqi government control. The toll from Wednesday’s three suicide bombings in Baghdad made it the deadliest day in Baghdad so far this year…

IS bombings highlight Iraqi capital’s vulnerability

Susannah George and Sinan Salaheddin            Associated Press               May. 12, 2016

BAGHDAD — A wave of Islamic State bombings in Baghdad has killed nearly 100 people in two days, exposing lingering gaps in the capital’s defenses, which are manned by an array of security agencies and militias that don’t always cooperate. The attacks also point to the resilience of the extremist group, which has increasingly resorted to bombings in civilian areas far from the front-lines as it has lost territory to Iraqi forces backed by U.S.-led airstrikes.

Three attacks in Baghdad on Wednesday left more than 90 people dead and 165 wounded. The deadliest struck a crowded market selling food, clothing and household goods in the predominantly Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City. The second deadliest attack in Baghdad this year was also in Sadr City, where bombings in late February killed 73 people.

On Thursday, two suicide bombers hit a police station in Baghdad’s westernmost suburb of Abu Ghraib, killing five policemen and wounding 12…

Shortly after the Islamic State group swept across northern and western Iraq in the summer of 2014, top Shiite clerics called on volunteers to mobilize to defend the country. The call-to-arms gave security forces a much-needed influx of thousands of men, but also hastened the rise of powerful militias that often act independently.

The Shiite militias officially operate under the direct command of the prime minister through an umbrella group known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, but command and control remains decentralized. In Baghdad, they operate alongside federal and local police, intelligence agencies and different army divisions.

“There is a multitude of security forces and no higher authority coordinating them,” said a senior Iraqi intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to brief the press. He said the failure to share intelligence was largely to blame for the recent attacks…

Kenya foils ‘large-scale’ ISIS anthrax attack, arrests 3 (PHOTOS)

African Spotlight               04 May 2016

Nairobi – Three Kenyan suspected members of an Islamic State affiliate have been arrested for allegedly planning an anthrax attack, Kenyan police said on Tuesday. The man and two women arrested on Friday were part of “an East Africa terror group network, that has links to ISIL,” another name for the Islamic State terror group (ISIS), according to Kenya police chief Joseph Boinnet. They are accused of “planning large-scale attacks” including “a biological attack in Kenya using anthrax,” said Boinnet.

Mohammed Abdi Ali, the alleged leader of the group and a medical student in Wote, southeast of the capital Nairobi, was arrested in Kenya and is being held in custody for 30 days while investigators gather further evidence. Two suspected accomplices – his wife Nuseiba Mohammed Haji, a medical intern, and another woman, Fatuma Mohammed Hanshi – were arrested in neighbouring Uganda.

Two other suspects, Ahmed Hish and Farah Dagne, also medics, are on the run in Kenya, with police offering $20 000 on wanted notices for each man.

“From our initial investigations, it has been established that the terror network linked to Mohammed Abdi Ali has been engaged in the active radicalisation, recruitment of university students and other Kenyan youth into terrorism networks,” Boinnet said. “The same network has been facilitating Kenyan youths to secretly leave Kenya to join terror groups in Libya and Syria.”…

200 Christians Killed In Syria Bombardments; Hope Remains

Stefan J. Bos and local sources                   BosNewsLife Middle East Service              May 9, 2016

DAMASCUS, SYRIA — Christian aid workers have urged prayers after up to 200 Christians were reportedly killed in sustained bombardments of Syria’s northern city of Aleppo, as the country’s civil war entered its sixth year.

“Lift up in prayer the Christian community of Aleppo and all innocent civilians in the city following a sustained period of bombardment, which mainly targeted the Christian area,” explained aid group Barnabas Fund in a statement obtained by BosNewsLife.

The group said between April 22 and April 30 some 1,350 rockets hit the Christian area, killing 132 people, half of them women and children. A further 65 were killed last week, May 3, with hundreds more injured, according to aid workers.

“Of the 65 killed on May 3, an estimated 35 died when Dabbit Hospital, which treated only women and children, was destroyed by a rocket explosion,” Barnabas Fund said. “Two patients died whilst on the operating table. Another hospital in the government area was damaged in part and has now been closed down.”

After the destruction of these two hospitals, only 16 of the 134 hospitals in the Aleppo area still function, said Christians familiar with the situation…
