Lerner’s Emails: IRS Officials Claim the Dog Ate Their Homework – What Should Congress Do?

Posted: June 15, 2014 at 8:45 am   /   by

June 13, 2014: Fox News panelists and Mark Levin on his radio show respond to the IRS’s preposterous claims that two years’ worth of critical Lois Lerner emails have been “lost” due to a failed hard drive.

This claim is so transparently false, corrupt, and absurd that the panelists dismiss it instantly using simple logic. And on Levin’s radio show, multiple callers with Information Technology experience explain why the IRS claim is a transparent, politically motivated lie — a real whopper.

This would be a laughing matter if it weren’t so serious. If Obama’s agencies can get away with persecuting individual citizens and groups for their political beliefs, and if the agencies can then hide, withhold, or destroy evidence as part of a cover-up, what has our Constitutional republic become?

If I were John Boehner, I’d issue an immediate memorandum to all employees of the DOJ, IRS, EPA, HHS, VA, and any other agency that has become corrupted. It might read as follows:

Dear Employees of Federal Agencies:

One day, Barack Obama will no longer be president, and Eric Holder will no longer be Attorney General.

If you yourself have participated in any intentional or negligent withholding, hiding, altering, or destroying of evidence (legally defined as spoliation), you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and you may be incarcerated in federal prison.

Moreover, if you have knowledge of spoliation by others around you and have not come forward, you may be guilty of misprision of felonywhich is the knowing concealment of a felony by those around you, even if you did not directly support it.

If you have evidence of spoliation or misprision of felony, by yourself or by others, I urge you to come forward now, and we will do our best to protect you.

These are no ordinary crimes. These are crimes against our Constitutional republic of the highest order, and I assure you a future AG will not be lenient on guilty parties who have not come forward.

John Boehner, Speaker
US House of Representatives

It’s time to put down a marker. If John Boehner will not step up to his responsibilities as Speaker, then other Representatives (Dave Camp? Trey Gowdy?) can draft such a memorandum.

This is no ordinary political posturing for the next news cycle. This is “big casino”. A corrupt DOJ, IRS, and/or other agency cannot be tolerated by a free people.

Update: See this link for an example of the debunking of this part of the IRS cover-up. Hat tip to reader Scott Holt for supplying this link. See also this link for background information on email and email servers. Hat tip to reader rrowe1961 for that link. We’re all going to learn a lot from Obama’s scandals. And there’s more than two years left on his term(!).

The warning letter should also go to anyone in any part of the federal government agencies, departments, and the White House who receivedemails from Lois Lerner, whether official email or side, private accounts.

  2. sissy51 says:

I totally approve of this letter and believe it should be sent to all of the Obama administration. We are NO longer going to put up with the mendacious and pervasive calumny which have been the bywords of this corrupt and lawbreaking administration. It’s time to #STAND.

    1. sissy51 Thanks, Sissy51 for your use of the word “calumny.” It is one of the most often used, and yet least understood, tools of the political left.
      dleeper47 Good letter.

  3. rrowe1961 says:

John Boehner is a fossil who has long outlived his usefulness to the American people, I’m surprised he even has a column here,  Frankly I don’t see ANYONE in Congress with the cajones to draft such a letter.

    1. dleeper47 says:

Not even Gowdy? Gohmert? Are there any other former prosecutors who might do it?
If no one in Congress will do it, should we draft a letter as citizens, sign it online, and send it to federal agencies with copies to all ??

      1. rrowe1961 says:

dleeper47 rrowe1961 I like Gowdy far as it goes, but I don’t see anyone with the stones to do this …

        1. rrowe1961 says:

dleeper47 Emails are stored on SERVERS not individual servers, there are backups … this is complete BULL$HI7 and anyone with IT experience KNOWS THAT, anyone buying this is a MORON or WILLFULLY STUPID

          1. dleeper47 says:

rrowe1961 Agreed. In principle, Lerner’s outgoing emails could be deleted from the servers too, but then there are all the people who *received* those emails. Like Elijah Cummings. Those emails are also stored on servers.
Obama & Co. must think we’re all idiots …

          2. rrowe1961 says:

dleeper47 rrowe1961 Not really possible without a DELIBERATE CRIME involved:

          3. sleepergirl says:

dleeper47 rrowe1961 Call NSA like Rep Steve Stockman did.  Remember all that metadata?  Certainly there’d be a  million items with Looney Lois’ name.

        2. sissy51 says:

I agree that if the House or Senate doesn’t take it up,WE THE PEOPLE should. Thanks for letting me reply. Be Well and Stay Safe #STAND

          1. sissy51 You are always welcome to reply, comment, opine, chime in, etc. here!

  4. rrowe1961 says:

Now this is WHY I like Gowdy, we need 350+ JUST LIKE HIM ! Boehner is a JOKE and not a funny one.

  5. MacWell says:

This should be posted on reddit under R/funny.
I’ll admit, I’m not a nerd, never had the patients to learn coding, or even a PC, which, back then, was mostly command line. So, I became a Mac person. With that in mind, I started using the (internet) back before it evolved to what we have here. Before the world.wide.web. we had some kind of .ftp client/server software. That was all you needed to have a conservation with anyone who had a computer and software.
Now, after saying that, there is NO WAY possible to loose e-mail. There are hackers… (anonymous?), out there who devote their lives to getting access to stuff like this, and if they do, you can be sure it’s on a thousand servers, in 50 countries, in 20 languages. You may think people that do this are paranoid, but, many of them are patriotic, even if they don’t understand. This one is going to bite them… hard!

    1. MacWell Everyone knows they didn’t lose the email. They know that everyone knows. We all know that they know that we know. But if the emails are gone, then—they hope, at least—the coverup may not be as damning as the original crime.
