Salmon, Schweikert sound off on #Obamacare fail
Rep. Salmon Releases Statement on Obamacare Dismal Enrollment Numbers
“President Obama should be concerned when more people are struck by lightning each year than have enrolled in Obamacare in Arizona.”
Washington—Today, Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following statement regarding today’s report from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) detailing current enrollment figures of the Obamacare exchanges for the first reporting period (Oct. 1-Nov. 2, 2013).
“Today’s report detailing the latest Obamacare enrollment numbers proves that this law was never ready for primetime.
Nationally, a dismal 106,185 people have signed up for Obamacare, far below what the Administration projected, and with only a quarter of the enrollees coming from the disastrous Healthcare.gov website. Meanwhile, it is estimated that more than 5 million Americans have been kicked off their insurance plans.
In Arizona, the numbers were even more stark, with only 739 people signing up through the federal exchanges.
President Obama should be concerned when more people are struck by lightning each year than have enrolled in Obamacare in Arizona.
Unfortunately, these figures represent real problems that American families are facing because of Obamacare. Now, more than ever, Americans are desperate for their elected officials to listen and act.
It is time we repeal this disastrous law to protect Americans from further harm and replace it with a market-based system that gets the IRS and federal government out of our healthcare system.”
Rep. David Schweikert on Healthcare.Gov Numbers: “Incompetence” and “Negligence”
WASHINGTON D.C. November 13, 2013 — Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) released the following statement reaction to numbers released today by the Obama Administration revealing that of the 106,185 people who have successfully enrolled in the Presidents health care plan, only 26,794 came throughhealthcare.gov:
“After three years and hundreds-of-millions of taxpayer dollars, all that we have to show for it are broken promises and an inaccessible website. The American people deserve better. Even the numbers released by HHS today don’t paint the full picture since the data includes people who haven’t completed the final payment process so even now we don’t know the real number of people who have successfully completed full enrollment.
“What’s disappointing is that the warning signs were there thathealthcare.gov was not going to be ready and instead of doing the responsible thing and delaying the launch and the mandates, the President forged ahead and has now put the entire country in this untenable position of uncertainty and fear. Working American families are now paying the price for Washington’s incompetence. In any other situation, someone would be fired for this type of incompetence and negligence.
