Video: House Laterals the Ball to Senate on Obamacare Defunding

| September 20 2013

Video (7 minutes): Following the vote to continue government funding through December 15, accompanied by defunding of Obamacare, the House Majority Leadership met with fellow Republicans in the Rayburn Room for short speeches, accompanied by rousing applause.

At this rally, the leaders (Reps Rogers, McCarthy, Cantor, Boehner) did a “lateral” to the Senate, calling on US Senators to join in voting for the bill.  Eric Cantor calls out specific Democrat Senators by name to vote with the people rather than Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

For conservatives, it is uplifting to see the GOP use their authority and majority to do the right thing by funding the government and defunding or at least delaying the Obamacare debacle. Their authority comes from the US Constitution Article I, Sections 7 and 8, and their majority comes from the work of conservatives in the 2010 and 2012 elections.

The split screen makes the video a bit small, but Arizonans may recognize John Boehner shaking hands with David Schweikert at the end of the video.

One small step for conservatives, and the first in a long journey to restore our country.  Good for Boehner, and I truly hope he and the leadership are sincere.  They need to have a steel spine for here on out.  I made tens of calls to Congress and many faxes too.  All of us together made this happen.
