IMPORTANT: Boehner Finally Sides with Conservatives on Defunding Obamacare

Posted: September 18, 2013 at 11:47 am   /   by

boehnerBetter late than never, John Boehner appears to have acquiesced to some variation of the Tom Graves / Ted Cruz / Mike Lee approach to defunding Obamacare.

That is:

Offer a CR to fund everything except Obamacare — the whole enchilada — all 479 Federal agencies, no matter how duplicative and wasteful — just not Obamacare.  Presumably this would be effective for one year until the next CR or until (a miracle occurs and) Congress actually passes a 2015 fiscal year budget.

Read the hard Left view at this link.

Read the center-right perspective at this link.

Count on the Left to shout “GOP Shuts Down Government!”

Count on the GOP to offer a meek defense (unless Boehner, Cantor, and McCarthy have had an epiphany).

My advice: Hire the biggest, meanest, most successful PR firm in DC to launch an immediate national campaign against the hard Left Democrats — a campaign like the one described in this link.  If the campaign succeeds, pay them a rich, healthy bonus.

In other words, quit pussy-footing around, get tough, and watch your support grow.  The grassroots respects and follows a leader with courage.  Try it, Mr. Boehner, you may like it.

Under the doctrine of “last clear chance”, if Obamacare takes root on October 1 and can’t be removed thereafter, this whole mess will blow back on you!

  1. Mike DeVine says:

For now. Let’s all wait until the game of government-shutdown chicken gets to that critical point where the Obama-DemMedia car is about to strike the GOP-Car and see if Boehner holds it in the Defund-Obamacare Rd. before we decide who the Repub leadership ultimately “sides” with.

    1. Mike DeVine Won’t it go over to the Senate next? If so, then we get to watch Reid try to defend Obamacare.

      1. Mike DeVine says:

WesternFreePress Mike DeVine Yep, but eventually there will come the deadline and Obama’s demands and then we will see if Boehner has courage.

        1. Mike DeVine Maybe men with stiffer spines (like Cruz) will cause him to stiffen his……

  2. PeoplePower says:

Now arrest obama for usurpation of the high office, war crimes, crimes against humanity and treason. Nullify every illegal and unconstitutional edit this fraud has penned.

  3. ONE4USA says:

Boehner could care less what the conservatives want. His actions are the result  of grass root American’s pressure. The fight is not over, just beginning. Obama’s 100 % my way or the highway is just around the corner. As in the sequester last year he will make it as painful as he can. He will shut down the government to get his way in spite of what the majority of American want.

    1. ONE4USA Grassroots pressure does work, and while I’d prefer that our reps do the right thing for the right reasons, I’ll take what I can get!
And yes, Obama will try to use his control of the media to win this one. But even with that, the GOP should still plow forward. Make him shut down the government. Then do what Leeper says and hire that PR firm!

      1. ONE4USA says:

WesternFreePress ONE4USA When the house passes CR without funding for Obamacare  Reid will strip that portion and send it back to the House.  The only hope is an outpouring of support for members of the House that are fighting this battle. Grassroots can be in support as well as pressure.

        1. ONE4USA We will have to pour it on then!

        2. ONE4USA says:

WesternFreePress ONE4USA I E-mail Rep. Gosar 2-3 times a week. Unfortunately my Senators from Arizona could careless what the constituency wants.

        3. ONE4USA McCain’s not much of a surprise, but Flake has been a bit of a disappointment.

        4. ONE4USA says:

WesternFreePress ONE4USA I voted for Flake in 2012. I did so with reservations. A lot of disappointment.
