Rep. Paul Gosar Supports REINS Act
Rein in overzealous regulators
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S (R – AZ) announced his original co-sponsorship of the Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act.
“Regulations created by the departments and agencies of President Obama’s Executive Branch have created undue burdens on small businesses and job creation. I am proud to co-sponsor the REINS Act and begin to rein in these overzealous regulators.”
“With high unemployment and runaway federal spending, Congress has a responsibility to the American people to stop the unaccountable and out-of-control growth of the regulatory state. This important piece of legislation is the first step to scaling back unnecessary and harmful regulations.”
“As a co-sponsor of the REINS Act, I will continue to work tirelessly to see its passage.”
Rep. Todd Young (R-IN) introduced the REINS Act of 2013 with 121 co-sponsors. Originally introduced by former Rep. Geoff Davis (R-KY), the REINS Act would require Congress to approve any rule or regulation with an economic impact of $100 million or more. It passed the House overwhelmingly in the 112th Congress, but never received a hearing in the Senate.
