Cronyism in America
Capitalists: People and businesses who earn a profit by providing something that people want—by making people’s lives better. Crony capitalists: People and businesses that manipulate government to redirect wealth to themselves, without creating anything that people want. There’s all the difference in the world.
One of the most trenchant, most effective points in the entire video is this: The only real way that a corporate plutocrat can force you to do anything against your will is if that corporate plutocrat has the force of government behind him or her.
Try that out on the next person you meet who hates business and corporations, but has nothing but love for government.
Professors Don Boudreaux (George Mason University), Susan Dudley (George Washington University) & Bradley Schiller (University of Nevada-Reno) discuss the causes & solutions to Cronyism in America.
Ardently devoted to the cause of human freedom, he has worked at the confluence of politics, activism, and public policy for more than a decade. He co-wrote a ten-part series of video shorts on economics, and has film credits as a researcher on 11 political documentaries, including Citizens United's notorious film on Hillary Clinton that became the subject of a landmark Supreme Court decision. He is the founder of several activist endeavors, including AnyStreet.org (now a part of Western Free Press) and Liberatchik.com. He is currently the managing editor of and principal contributor to WesternFreePress.com.
