The Battle for the Senate continues

Posted: October 20, 2012 at 5:00 pm   /   by

If Mitt Romney wins, and it is looking increasingly likely that he may do just that, he will need a Senate in friendly hands in order to accomplish anything.

And there will be a lot to do. Barack Obama inherited a mess, but the short-term aspects of that mess could have been cleaned up with the right approach. Mitt Romney is inheriting stagnation in the short term, which can be turned out around, but he’s also inheriting much bigger, longer-term, structural problems that will need resolve, focus, and either unanimity or overwhelming control by the GOP to fix.
