Richard Carmona: “Issues with anger, with ethics, and with women”

The knives are out in the Arizona Senate race.  Jeff Flake is on the air with a brutal ad hitting Richard Carmona over events that occurred during his tenure as U.S. Surgeon General.

Carmona’s former boss, another doctor, accuses him of coming to her house for an unwanted nighttime visit.

“There was an angry pounding on the door, in the middle of the night. I’m a single mom. I feared for my kids and for myself. It was Richard Carmona and I was his boss. Carmona is not who he seems. He has issues with anger, with ethics and with women. I have testified to this under oath to Congress. Richard Carmona should never, ever be in the U.S. Senate.”

Creepy!  It’s an effective spot that undercuts some of Carmona’s positives.  It will be a lot harder for voters to see him as a gentle doctor and political moderate now that they know the truth about Carmona’s past behavior.

According to Talking Points Memo, “The ad is running statewide in Arizona on broadcast and cable. A Spanish-language version is running on Telemundo and Univision.”

Of course, you can also watch it here.
