Video: Teens Crying Out (to us) for Help

“The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”
Thomas Jefferson

The video below isn’t just about the debt. There are plenty of other reasons for our children and grandchildren to be worried about their future. But the debt is exemplar of our selfishness, of our profound failure to protect our children and secure their futures. We are shackling them to a very heavy burden, one that will diminish their futures and puts their security itself at risk. And for what? For ObamaPhones? To devote all we have to building an entitlement state, regardless of whether the people we are “helping” actually need it, and to engineer our own decline in the process? So that politicians can buy votes to stay in power?

Teenagers are notorious for displaying a disengaged insouciance about such matters, most often attaching a great deal more importance to events in their own personal lives. But those who are watching—and who truly grasp the nature of what we are doing to their future—have every reason to be horrified, angry, and deeply concerned.
