New ad features former Obama supporters

Americans for Prosperity is out with a new ad featuring a diverse group of former Obama supporters.

It seems designed to play to a number of demographics that haven’t jumped on the Romney bandwagon yet.  Independent-voting women are getting the most press right now as a result of the attention that social issues have received recently, and it’s likely no coincidence that the ad features several of them.

But perhaps the most brutal criticism of the Obama administration comes from the man in the ad who says, “The President is doing a mediocre job.  The economy in my opinion is still the same as it was four years ago.”

Indeed, despite the fact that the official unemployment rate has declined somewhat since Obama took office, there is still a pervasive sense that the economy has become stagnant.  The workforce participation rate, that is, the percentage of the population that is employed, has simultaneously dropped two percentage points — from 65.7% to 63.7% — since January 2009.  Many have been forced into early retirement or have otherwise exited the statistical workforce without being employed.  The economy is still only growing at a rate of 1.5%, which is not enough to create the hundreds of thousands of jobs needed to replace the ones that were lost during the recession.

So it makes perfect since that the ad is posted at the www.whereisthechange.org.  President Obama’s slogan in 2008 may have been ‘Change’, but in reality Keynesian stimulus, high government spending, and overregulation have only led to stagnation.
