“We tried our plan — and it worked”: Looks like even President Obama Feels His Job is Done
At a recent fundraiser in Oakland President Barack Obama emphatically declared, “Just like we’ve tried their plan, we tried our plan — and it worked.”
The finality and sense of accomplishment that comes from this statement are really worrisome. If the President can look at the numbers being presented on the economy, unemployment and housing and think that his plan has succeeded I have to ask myself what his definition of failure would be.
With unemployment again on the rise it is a wonder that he can be so confident that he has made an overwhelming positive change in the state of the economy. With so many Americans out of work and trying to make ends meet, it seems to me that there is still quite a bit of work to be done before anyone can say whether or not his plan “worked.”
Based on the actions of the President it does appear that he feels he has finished his work when it comes to those who are unemployed. The President hasn’t bothered to meet with his jobs council, the one he created to help get the unemployment rate down, since January, and it doesn’t appear he plans to anytime soon either with Election 2012 on the horizon.
With that information in mind, it appears that he truly meant he had finished his job when he said “it worked.” I can only hope he’s right and that this November we elect the candidate that acknowledges things aren’t great in America. The candidate who is willing to put in the effort to help change the economic course we are currently on; the candidate who hasn’t already decided to mail it in.
