National Rifle Association Endorses Jeff Flake

Flake’s “solid and consistent” voting record cited

PHOENIX – The Political Victory Fund of America’s foremost defender of the Second Amendment — the National Rifle Association — has endorsed Jeff Flake in the Republican primary election for United States Senate. In a letter announcing its endorsement, NRA Political Victory Fund Director of Federal Affairs, James Baker, wrote:

“On behalf of our four million members nationwide, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse you in the Arizona Republican primary for U.S. Senate on August 28, 2012.  Based on your solid and consistent pro-gun voting record, you have earned an “A” rating from the NRA-PVF.

“In the 112th Congress, you voted for H.R. 822, “The National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act,” one of the most important pieces of pro-gun legislation to come before the Congress.  This bill would ensure law-abiding Americans with a valid concealed handgun license would be able to carry their concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry.
“In addition, you sponsored H.R. 3440, the “Recreational Shooting Protection Act,” to prevent a ban on recreational shooting on Bureau of Land Management lands nationwide.  This bill was included in a legislative package, H.R. 4089, the “Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012,” that favorably passed the House of Representatives 274-146.  H.R. 4089 is a compilation of legislation meant to ensure the rights of hunters and recreational shooters are not further eroded.  Among many key improvements, the bill directs Federal land management agencies to facilitate the expansion and enhancement of hunting on Federal lands, and ensures sound scientific management of wildlife and habitat.
“Again, thank you for your unwavering support for the Second Amendment.  We urge our members, gun owners and sportsmen in Arizona to vote for you in the upcoming August 28th Republican primary.  Good luck this year, and we look forward to our continued relationship.”
