Quayle, Colleagues Unveil “Religious Freedom Tax Repeal Act”
WASHINGTON (DC) – Congressman Ben Quayle participated in a press conference to announce the introduction of the “Religious Freedom Tax Repeal Act of 2012”. The bill would roll back tax increases in Obamacare that force religious employers to offer health insurance options that go against their conscience or conviction. These taxes can go as high as $36,500 per employee, per year. The legislation is sponsored by Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner and Rep. Quayle is an original co-sponsor.
Selected remarks from Congressman Quayle at the introduction of the “Religious Freedom Tax Repeal Act of 2012”:
“Religious freedom is one of the bedrock principles of our democracy. It is unconscionable that President Obama would seek to restrict the religious freedoms of America’s employers, but that’s exactly what Obamacare does. And it does it using President Obama’s favorite new method: coercion-by-taxation…”
“…Obamacare tramples on many things held dear by the American people. This legislation turns back some of the most egregious attempts to infringe on the freedom of the American people, and I am proud to support it.
“I hope this legislation will see swift action in the House. And, though I’m not holding my breath, I hope that Senate Democrats and the President will have the courage to admit that their attempt to restrict religious freedom is simply wrong.”
