Young voters tend to be much more driven by emotion than thought. Needless to say, they also are not possessed of the same amount of wisdom and experience that they will have achieved once they are a little bit older. Both of these factors tend to drive them in overwhelming numbers straight towards the Democrats.

And, as one might expect from the callow and not-yet-wise, that decision is a very poor one, and not at all in their interest:
