Arizona’s Senator John McCain Endorses Kirk Adams for Congress
Arizona’s Senator John McCain has endorsed, or more accurately, “strongly supports” Kirk Adams in the GOP primary for the 5th Congressional District.
McCain also made it clear where his sympathies are in the closely watched 5th Congressional District GOP primary between former U.S. Rep. Matt Salmon and former state House Speaker Kirk Adams. “I haven’t formally endorsed, but I strongly support Kirk Adams,” McCain said. “I think he has leadership experience, but I also feel that it’s important that we have a next generation of Republican leaders in our state.”
Adams is also backed by fellow Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, who serves as Adams’ honorary campaign chairman.
The race between former House Speaker Kirk Adams and former Congressman Matt Salmon has become a heated race of competing endorsements. Adams pick up of McCain and Kyl are sure to blunt Salmon’s own endorsements.
McCain’s endorsement of Adams comes on the heels of a strange Phoenix New Times story highlighting Matt Salmon’s connections to the Unification Church or the Moonies.
